Spring Fever Hits Room 6

We have been talking about all the exciting things that happen when Springtime arrives, like baby lambs being born. Farmer Lukas brought his lamb "Otto" to school and we all stroked him. Otto had a soft, curly, wool coat and we loved stroking him. We were surprised when we touched him, to feel how warm and silky he felt. He talked to us too and we got to feed him milk. His tail went crazy when he was drinking the milk. Farmer Lukas said that meant that Otto was happy.We have been studying Nursery Rhymes and we changed "Mary Had A Little Lamb", here is our new poem

Lukas had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb,
Lukas had a little lamb
he brought to Parnell School
It made Room 6 tip-toe quietly, stroke him gently and feed him milk.
Otto"s tail went wagging fast
to say he loved us all.

Farmer Lukas said  he was happy, he was happy, he was happy
Famer Lukas said he was happy
to bring his lamb to school.

The room 6 children 
laughed and squealed, laughed and squealed, laughed and squealed.
The room 6 children laughed and stroked, and wouldn't come back inside.
Mrs Browne was there too, was there too, was there too,
Mrs Browne was there too and
loved it too!

Yesterday we planted our class garden with Spring flowers. They are Petunias, Primroses and Cyclamens.
We googled how to prepare the garden soil first by completing a google search and finding a You Tube clip showing us how to do it. Some of us did not like feeling the mud and seeing the worms, but we carried on and now our garden looks fantastic. We can't wait for our flowers to grow and bloom.

Yesterday our whole school went to Aotea Centre for Kiwi Kapers 2012. Here are some of the things we said about our trip:

Police Education Officer Visits Junior School

We had a very enjoyable visit from Constable Julie and Constable Cyrus today, to talk to us about how to stay safe when crossing the road. Did you know that children have to be 10 years or over before they can cross the road alone. Until then the children need to cross with an adult (or a child 10years or older). We will be continuing a Road Safety focus for another three weeks. Tomorrow, is Junior School Wheels Day, so bring along some wheels if you can.

We are writing this blog together today using our projector so we can all see it as Mrs Browne writes it!! Wow.
We want to say "Thank-you for coming with us to the Marae and learning us, we had a great time"
Our favourite parts of the trip:

• learning stuff around the Marae with the big kids
• being inside the wharenui
• making the fish
• seeing Whaea Celess
• seeing her cloak
• learning the haka and speaking Maori

Parent student conferences

We now report on an age based /time at school system. I am emailing parents now regarding times for the conferences. If you are not contacted, you will see Mrs Browne in term 3 and 4. Ten students will see me this term and term 4. Please ask if you are not clear.
