We have been using some of the Art Gallery paintings as motivation for writing.

We looked closely at the painting "Otira Gorge" by Petrus Van der Weldon and here are some of the children's responses to where the water is coming from and what image does this create. .

Jessica - it looks like a storm, clouds are swirling
Maxwell - the water looks like an ice cube, all cold
David - when the clouds are full of water, it goes faster to the ground
Oliver - the artist liked it when it was stormy, it is pushing a rock down the river
Theo - the water is so strong it is pushing the rock down the river fast

Ms Bridgman was very impressed with their responses!

What a busy week. . . the Auckland Art Gallery Trip was a highlight. Thanks to all the parent helpers for making the day enjoyable and hassle free!

The children have written about thei visit and we have created some word cards recording their art words from the visit as well as making a huge collage. . this is a work in progress. . .
Francois kindly shared these photos with us, they capture the essence of the trip beautifully!
