Felix

Today I tried hard to draw a cool picture plan and then write about it. I am learning to use my alphabet card to help me write words that I am unsure of.

"I went on a rocket" - by Felix

story writing

Storywriting by William - Tuesday 9th July

"I went on an airplane"

Story writing by Oliver - Tuesday 9th July

"I heard in the news that a plane crashed." Oops, the photo is upside down!

Ms Bridgman saw this too! The plane came off the runway and onto the grass. William said that 2 people died and Felix said that the plane burst into flames and broke into pieces.

Week 7 Term 2

We were lucky to have The Incredible Science Roadshow from Auckland University come to visit us. Watch the video of the Coke Volcano - a Coke and Mentos experiment!
Emily and Matti were enthusiastic participants and made the volcano erupt! They discovered how lots of bubbles and the coke gas mixed together caused a reaction.

Thursday 21 March 2013

We have been using some of the Art Gallery paintings as motivation for writing.

We looked closely at the painting "Otira Gorge" by Petrus Van der Weldon and here are some of the children's responses to where the water is coming from and what image does this create. .

Jessica - it looks like a storm, clouds are swirling
Maxwell - the water looks like an ice cube, all cold
David - when the clouds are full of water, it goes faster to the ground
Oliver - the artist liked it when it was stormy, it is pushing a rock down the river
Theo - the water is so strong it is pushing the rock down the river fast

Ms Bridgman was very impressed with their responses!

News from Room 6

Swimming has been a highlight in this warm weather -some happy faces at the parnell pools last week!

Reminder for this week, swimming is at 1pm on Thursday for those parents who are able to assist.

ICT today. . . .

Our aim was to log on to www.studyladder and we managed it! Most children were comfortable with holding the mouse, but some extra practice at home with "moving my mouse about" would definately speed up my ICT learning.
Learning hero's were Maxwell Clarke, Sam Savill and Matti King who used excellent listening skills and successfully went through the whole process of logging on, switching user classrooms, entering room 6, room 6 (our user name and password)locating the school website, double clicking on the white star and finding the studyladder link at the bottom of the page! AND THEN. . .They managed to log off all by themselves!!!

Well done boys!
